BLACK SWAN (HOLY SHIT)

I was right about this movie. It was fucking awesome. I have patted my own back many times. Being right is important. If you want to be right too, just tell people that Darren Aronofsky is, like, one of the best directors ever, or if you wanna be safe and sound classy say; directors of our time. Cause he is. (Writer too). Go see the movie, you'll forget about your life, or logic in general, and you will be in the movie theater with your eyes wide fucking open. I was. So obviously you would be too. Watch his other movies too. That way when someone asks you: "What else has he done" you can chuckle then recite : "PiRequiemFountainWrestler"
His movies usually take you into the deepest of unknown madnesses/universally intra personal MACROcollective schism sanities, and your right there, hand in hand with the main character (no that doesn't make sense!) and then you come out relieved that it was just a movie and that youre actually just sitting in a room with a lot more of your own life to live.
His movies are so dern VIVID. You breathe with the characters! Theres always a shadow or a tiny sound or shot too close for comfort that just pulls you in (and repels you). It's real.
Also, always much love to Clint Mansell..
ALSO, Darren, what happened to Lone Wolf? That woulda been divine?! Now The internets telling me your doing a Wolverine movie? and/or a Machine Man movie about a guy with metal bones...uh are those the same? (PS haha Hugh Jackman what is THIS?!) But come on! Thats like...as if the director of Memento did a Batman movie (or 2)!!!! or The director of Eternal Sunshine did the Green Hornet! or if you did Robocop!
Anyway... whats really truly important is that you put the creep from the subway in Pi in Black Swan. The circle is now complete!

PS He was the Executive Producer of The Fighter... so maybe i'll see that too. Ya Mark Wahlberg, you were the exec producer on In Treatment... which me and my girl are watching now.. so deliciously good.

My Beautiful Dark Twisted Album Review

Ya, its awesomeFULL

What you don't like it?

You'd rather listen to Akido -Volte-Face 5 more times?!

You'd rather listen to Why? - Alopecia 10billion more times?!

Come on now, just listen to it all the way through 3 more times.

Yes you can skip track two, we all know that song doesnt even belong on the album nonetheless right after the buildup of the first track...we all know it should have gone straight into "Power"!

Ya I know that Movie he made is dumb, dont worry about it... its about the music! The purposely sloppy parts, the vividly honest parts! The delicately crafted parts! The strictly political guest appearences! Well...maybe those are...whatever...there is a LOT of political moves on this album, but thats the game friends.

LETS JUST GO OVER THE ALBUM... SHALL WE!?
I'm going to try to break each song down into parts:

Lyrics - What is being said
Subject Matter - What is this about?
Production - Is this nice on your ears
Strategy - What kind of move was this?
Overall - Awesomeness?

Kanye West - My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy

Track 1
Dark Fantasy
OK... we have a Nicki Minaj storybook intro...some epic/sad piano chords...a chorus of people that remind me of dogs howling (owwrr owrrr owrr, owrr worr owwrr) after asking if we can get much higher... then the beat... then a slew of west's crazy awesome lyrics over a dance between a nice head bobber and an epic "ooo im flying" romantic anthem... then a fade out.. then one last dog chorus...and then another fade out!
Subject Matter:
We got riches and the ruins they bring. Its the beginning of a very schizophrenic journey. I love it. Can someone get much higher than this and still be truly alive? This song sets up the suicide note feel the whole album maintains. The glory and sadness of success seem to be tearing little Yeezy apart. To me, it sounds like he's saying that he was gone, but because of obligations he is back, hesitantly, in his throne, now because I say hesitantly doesnt mean without confidence... Kanye and confidence are just...there, thats never a problem. He effortlessly convinces you that he's the best and the wittiest... what more do you want from him. oh and cars. He has cars. He covered everything both kind of fans would want. He still has lots of stuff and he somehow still has worries.
Lyrics:
The lyrics on this album twist (twisted, duh) you through some sort of intricate, delicate, human puzzle. There's great puns and double triple meanings that can be funny and serious of coarse. That's not new for Ye but what might be is the self-deception weaved into this particular album. In his first verse he reflects on his dreams, and how they come true. Its a checklist of all the proper elements a successful rap icon must acquire. But what's this? Right in the middle he drops the line: "Me drown sorrow in that Diablo." and quickly moves on to more bragging. I didn't know you could have sorrow in such success! Anyway he's got mucho requests at the club, and he's gotta a Nas flow (nice (as in hats off that was a nice line)) and he's got models and felacio all over the place. (Was everyone watching sleepy hallow up in his studio or what? Theres more references to it later) then we ask again..can we get much higher? Verse 2, I do not know why we are talking about Celine Dion's booty but, we have what seems like more bragging, yet, we have night demons and pain to drink away. I quickly forget about the depth of these lines because the "too many Urkels" line is so sweet. Dudes a beast man. He can't stop, it's like this shit just bursts out of him. I hear: Please...help...I'm so alone...BLAEAGHHHH (sounds of lyrical genious being projectile vomited outo crowds of people swarming beneath the flow) How can you not be entertained by this?! Lets not forget the introduction though:

You might think you’ve peeped the scene
You haven’t, the real one’s far too mean
The watered down one, the one you know
Was made up centuries ago
They made it sound whack and corny
Yes it’s awful, blasted boring
Twisted fictions, sick addictions
Well gather ‘round children, zip it, listen:

It kind of doesn't make sense... but is that the point?
Hmmm..How much credit do I want to give Mr.West here...
It's saying that, if you think you know the story (possibly specifically Kanyes, or that of a successful musician, or a person) then you are mistaken, but the real story is too fucked up.
Now somebody...(the press, or just manipulators in general, you know the ones that have always been around) has made the truth sound...boring? Twisted fictions and sick addictions..are boring? Gather round children (the manipulators or.. me the listener...or everyone) listen... like as in we are going to hear the real story now.. or is it the same ancient story of tragedy...

Production:
You gotta listen to this album loud. It's great. Try it out with some nice headphones too. A lot of the songs like to swirl around your head and are good for the stereophonic experience from headphones or the car. This song is perfect o. I like the intro with Nicki M. The background is trippy and definitely gives you the feel of a fantasy book. Then we got some vocals and an orchestra... boom boom.. strings building. Who ever's leading the "get much higher part" is singing with great energy and sadness. The Beat comes in kind of awkwardly...because it's such a simple loop hearing it with out an initial sound feels naked, but you don't really care shortly after 'cause our hero finally speaks.I appreciate that Kanye doesnt overdo his vocals. Forgetting 808's, Ive always liked that about him. I hate when artists put like 50 layers of themselves over top each other (Eminems newer stuff..)When Kanye comes in its bare and sounds right (cept for that little trail off about his toys...eesh he does that a couple more times in the album). The beat drops back in, and he nicely escorts us through the rest of the tune adding only a little more girth and some sparkley sounds that enchant and melt you into a nice "I think I'm as cool as this song" attitude. Smart move keeping it simple too. Genius move going back and forth with the epic, beat-less chorus.
Strategy:
Putting the most talked about rapper at the beginning of your new record...hmm why would anyone do that? This was a nice start. Then the second little buildup with a huge orchestra sound with chorus lines and strings swelling and building up the tempo...classy. The Beat drops carefully, stops, and heres King Kanye, the beats back and he's cruising. We got the elements of everything new and old here, shining, all preparing you for a tasty adventure that is this album. Classical instruments (real ones too) coupled with old school hip-hop. Stereotypical rap bragging brought to new levels of creativity alongside new levels of honesty in the genre...even for Kanye... this is good, I'm ready for more. Quite A perfect start, gets me excited for the album.
Overall:
Can we get much higher? A big question. Sung so sad. Like: "How much higher do I have to go?"
Now now, Yeezy, calm down, I'd be afraid of that ego too, but you just need to enjoy yourself again and make music. WILL HE TAKE MY ADVICE?!?!!? GO TO THE NEXT TRACK TO SEE!!!!
But ya, dis a good track for an intro
side note: Even though Nicki Minaj's ass is scary and it prohibits her from being able to move, I love her for her skillz (demonstrated later in "Monster")

Track 2
Gorgeous
Ok, so you already know I skip this track. Where should it go? I have no idea... maybe second to last, I think "Who will survive in America" could have transitioned into it nicely with a little overlap and then the joyful contrast of the last track would have all the more celebrated with its old touch of the "Happy Kanye" sound. Truthfully I would not have minded if this track and the last one were left out. They both feel like they are there out of obligation, and kind of mess with the flow/theme of the album in its entirety. I also think Kid Cudi is overrated. Uh-oh, I think a bunch of people just stopped reading this. I mean the people who like him LOVE him and although he does deserve some credit... he's really not that great. really. But anyway this song is all about Kanye. He truly shines as a lyricist, and the song itself has a nice mantra\chain gang catchiness.
Subject Matter:
This song is intensely socially conscious...in the verses but the chorus seems to be what I would deem as kind of selfish? Honestly I dont know what the hook is about. Materialism? Success? Kanye talking to himself...through Cudi? The white man?
But the majority of the track is clearly about, all of Americas problems and how Kanye West is the answer to them. He is the best...ect
Lyrics:
He's too good at this.

Dr. Dre is still smoking...(clearly)

So this is the first new song that Dr.Dre has released under his own name in like.. 12 years...
It is kind of boring. Listening to the beat closely, i still pick up on that Dre delicacy. It's a very simple beat but he's still got those subtleties that keep you coming back without really knowing why. Of coarse it might be nearly impossible to live up to the amount of hype Dre has accumulated for this album, but I said nearly. If he pulls off a solid album, with classy production like he's always done, then that is a true accomplishment. Consistency. If the songs subject matter don't evolve past everything in this song, then their might be some disappointed fans, but what did you expect? Clearly smoking weed every day (ya yay ya-e-yay) creates setbacks (12 years?!?!really?!?!) but it's not like Dre hasn't been doing anything... look at his production credentials... plus he made some shiny headphones. Anyway I am babbling... heres what I really have to say:
* I have faith in this album, this song was purposefully chosen to lower expectations
* How the fuck did they make this video?
* How do you even have a brain after smoking that much weed? (maybe he doesn't even smoke)
* The outcome of this could just be sad as hell...triggering waves of complete indifference.. the world of hip-hop/rap has changed so dramatically so quickly, i dont know if Dre has any idea how to appeal to the people fiending for this new electronica-zombie-90's underground dominatrix-overcompressed-underlogical-techno-teen-supra-contemporary-mindless-preteen-commerical-hop.
* I will likely download the instrumentals and enjoy them immensely.

No interest in Dr.Dre? Just look up some of these or acquire Chronic 2001 or die.
ok dont die... but look at this though....c'monnnnn
