it's his (sort of) first but he still writes like a champ
great balance between vivid vulgarity and graceful poetic-ism-ness
i liked this:
I hadn't felt that way in a long time. Perhaps, in the ambush of those years, the idea that I was a champion had been shot out from under me. But I remembered it now and it made me feel old and slightly nervous that I had done so little in so long a time.
I leaned back in the chair and sipped my drink. The cook was banging around in the kitchen and for some reason the piano had stopped. From inside came a babble of Spanish, an incoherent background for my scrambled thoughts. For the first time I felt the foreignness of the place, the real distance I had put between me and my last foothold. There was no reason to feel pressure, but I felt it anyway - the pressure of hot air and passing time, an idle tension that builds up in places where men sweat twenty-four hours a day
my friend kathy burke or "Kae" has an entertaining blog of her current adventures in... somewhere... where is she? Cambodia or something... Thailand?
ya... check it out!
SO! I think i have been slacking on the talking of movies and music. Things in which i am constantly engaged in experiencing yet don't discuss enough here. part of the reason is, i don't feel like telling you in great detail why i like what i like. it ruins it for you. but heres some stuff ive been watching and listening to and are GOOD
I would have been un-suprised if these guys couldnt pull off an album with the same awesomeness
the first one had. It was so simple but brought on such a deep spectrum of emotions and visions. but oh look! They have a new album and not only did they match that delicate balance again, but expanded upon it!
The first one or two times i enjoyed listening but couldnt quite understand what was going on...
now I see that these songs are extremely unique, from eachother and from any other music before it. This is great stuff. There is alot to explore. I am still falling in love with this album. I try to reserve it for when i have time to listen to the whole thing. AND SO SHOULD YOU! (reading rainbow transition music)
there is a new manchester orchestra and my morning jacket.
i dont really care.
i tried to.
but i dont.
they are boring albums.
Actually nobody wants to admit this but alot of my morning jacket is simply boring.

was VERY badass.

Revisiting this album, for the, probably fourth time.

not sure if i have an unpolished download of Gloss Drop, because the mix seems a little funny with the other instruments being kind of overpowered by the drums
