REAL TALK

SO! I think i have been slacking on the talking of movies and music. Things in which i am constantly engaged in experiencing yet don't discuss enough here. part of the reason is, i don't feel like telling you in great detail why i like what i like. it ruins it for you. but heres some stuff ive been watching and listening to and are GOOD

Isam by Amon Tobin
it is GOOD

Foley room was an interesting venture into tobins soundscapes and sculpting
hes now reallllly sharpened these skills and re-incorporated them into more accessible compostitions
and this album sounds so GOOD

Helplessness Blues by Fleet Foxes

I would have been un-suprised if these guys couldnt pull off an album with the same awesomeness
the first one had. It was so simple but brought on such a deep spectrum of emotions and visions. but oh look! They have a new album and not only did they match that delicate balance again, but expanded upon it!
The first one or two times i enjoyed listening but couldnt quite understand what was going on...
now I see that these songs are extremely unique, from eachother and from any other music before it. This is great stuff. There is alot to explore. I am still falling in love with this album. I try to reserve it for when i have time to listen to the whole thing. AND SO SHOULD YOU! (reading rainbow transition music)

there is a new manchester orchestra and my morning jacket.
i dont really care.
i tried to.
but i dont.
they are boring albums.
Actually nobody wants to admit this but alot of my morning jacket is simply boring.
however manchesters last album Mean Everything To Nothing
was VERY badass.
man that song pride is like wooo wooo

hrmmm ill discuss one more
a throwback
a
pin
back!

Summer in Abaddon by Pinback

Revisiting this album, for the, probably fourth time.
(as in fourth phase of obsession, ive listened to it probably 100+ times)
Ive fallen in love with it all over again.
its more genius than i remember.

rob crow, is also awesome.
the Ladies album is still great - They Mean Us
and goblin cock is cool - Bagged & Boarded
also a new Pinback is coming next year!!
double also
this exists:

MOVIES:

Great documentary. Theres so much that happens in it that was beyond the film makers.
they were VERY lucky to have this land in their lap. I think they did a good job of letting it be what it is too.
so cool. not gonna tell you anything. cept its not a horror movie like the poster looks like.

another doc.
the implications in this film go beyond what the creators dare to imply.
strange story.
watched it last night. cant shake off the funny feeling.

another doc. great.
I feel as though the film itself falters about 3/4s through
I sense shame.
as if while making it they realized the depth they had gotten into and were scared away.
I think it was meant to make the artist look great but the real heroes are the garbage pickers in the movie.
inspiring ideas in it though. certainly inspired me. especially relating to Lazerfoot!

hmmm non documentaries..
Ive been rewatching alot of greats with my girlfriend..
The Godfather  , still amazing. The first one trumps the others by leaps and bounds.
Edward Scissorhands  Better then i remembered.
The French Connection - great action

new to me:

downloaded this to watch with my GFs little brother
i was REALLY impressed. The animation/art direction was beautiful!

The Fighter was definitly entertaining... more of a comedy really. good for atleast 1 watch.

Foreign Correspondent was pretty great.
I will definitly do a post on Hitchcock.
I still can't harness the words for his work.
He may be the greatest film maker.
that is for sure.

annnnnd
why not throw a book in here:

just read it again
i learned some things:
the movie does in fact suck.
because this book is incredible
buy it. its so cheap.
